- DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES: City Impact is working with young people and their families through different programs including Institutional, Referral, Neighborhood and the Counseling Center. The City Impact staff and volunteers serve as mentors, counselors and program assistants in Juvenile Hall, Colston Youth Center and California Youth Authority. We also work as a referral service with the juvenile court, probation officers, police, schools and other agencies. Youth Impact focuses on neglected urban neighborhoods through street work and mentoring. Tutoring programs, parenting classes, small group activities, and discussion groups are also available. Youth Impact also facilitates and trains schools in student assistance groups and leads Racial Harmony and Leadership Groups in elementary - high school. The Counseling Center works with low income adolescents and their families to provide caring professional therapy at a sliding scale. Various support groups are available such as adolescent, couples, co-dependency and parents of chronically ill or disabled young people. Workshops and seminars are also available.
